Each year Crown Vets makes a commitment to helping the people and pets of Inverness-shire.
Crown Vets is proud to take part in the Step Programme, which is the leading student placement programme for the summer break. The Step Programme enables students to gain experience of a business environment whilst still studying at University or College.
Crown Vets are happy to provide home visits for pet owners who aren’t able to come to the vet for whatever reason. Often these visits can be for no extra charge and you can find out more about this service here.
We have linked up with Highland Council to reward responsible dog owners. This initiative, which started in autumn 2009, rewards dog owners who are found by Highland Council dog wardens to be picking up their dog poo and disposing of it properly – you can read more about the programme here.
Crown Vets sponsors the Inverness Gaelic School shinty team. The school shinty team doesn't have strips and we are stepping in to help for the start of the next school term in August 2010.
We took a table at the Highland Hospice Burns Supper in 2010 and in the process made a donation of £500 to the Hospice.

We are happy to do vet or vet nurse visits to schools & nurseries in the Inverness area, providing talks and demonstrations. Some examples include Kilcoy Nursery at Tore (visited by Kessock Equine Vets), BSGI (provision of vet-play equipment), Crown Primary School (visiting vet). Please contact us, if you would like us to come to your school or nursery.
Our reception team took part in Race for Life, fundraising for Cancer Research UK. The ladies did very well, raising over £200 for cancer charities.
We are always happy to consider applications from school pupils as part of the ‘work experience’ requirement. If you would like to join us for some time, then please read here and contact our head Veterinary Nurse, Janet Stevenson. We know that everybody has to start their career somewhere and every one of our vets and nurses themselves has had to do work experience at veterinary practices, on farms and even abattoirs to further their career!
We had a donation bin at our practice during Children in Need in 2009 and the practice matched the donations from clients and the total donation to Comic Relief was £280.
We provide a discounted scheme for the leading cats’ welfare charity to enable them to neuter more cats at an affordable fee. The less cats that are able to breed, the less disease and welfare problems there will be in the future, not just in the feral population, but also in the domestic cat population.
We held a wonderful open day at our premises in Argyle Street in June 2009. The event was attended by over 150 people and offered clients a chance to see around our newly refurbished premises.
Following difficulty in sourcing blood for a sick dog, Crown Vets are co-ordinating a canine-blood-bank for Highland Pets. We have an ongoing programme of blood typing and checking volunteer dogs that can provide blood in case of an emergency. Read about one very lucky dog here!
