Pet Of The Month

Every month, we honour one of our bravest pets, by appointing them 'Pet of the Month'! These are usually published on our Facebook site; do please become a fan by clicking here, but we do publish them here from time-to-time too!

December 2011

Brave Torrin had a rare cyst attached to his prostate gland, which was causing him a lot of discomfort. After complex surgery at our clinic in Inverness, the melon-sized cyst was removed and he has made an excellent recovery - well done Torrin!

November 2010

Rogie Chalmers is a very deserving pet of the month. Rogie has a rare blood disorder and he needed to go to Glasgow Vet School for specialist treatment. Now returning to health, he is a regular visitor to the practice and we are always delighted to see him!

October 2010

Wooster Duncan is one of our regular patients at Crown Vets. He recently had a malignant tumour removed from his leg and his owners had to take extra special care of him as he recovered from the surgery. He is now back to his bouncy self - well done, Wooster!

July 2010

Conan is one of our oldest canine patients. He is a a Jack Russel Terrier x Japanese hound. He is 18 years old and he has kidney, heart and pancreas problems. Conan is a strong wee fellow and has managed to pull through to 18 years bravely despite his many illnesses. The practice staff sent Conan an 18th Birthday card last month and we all hope to send him a 19th card next year.

June 2010

'Bella' Addie, further information to follow.

May 2010

Five-month old Niko the kitten, came into our clinic, out-of-hours during May, because he was having breathing problems. The next day, the vets x-rayed his chest and found that he was suffering from a rare disease called Pyothorax. The vets carefully fitted special drains into his chest, so that the fluid could all be removed from around his lungs. The drains were a real irritation for him and the nurses came up with the great idea of using a pair of tights to make a protective body suit and after being hospitalised for a week, he made a great improvement and he's now back being a happy kitten!

April 2010

Benjie the Bengal cat was brought in by a member of the public, because he was found lost and in-pain. Fortunately, he was microchipped and we were immediately able to trace his owners. Benji had a broken pelvis and a paralysed leg, but with careful love & care from our vets & nurses, he is now able to enjoy light exercise and short strolls around the house.

March 2010

Winston and Wellington are six-year-old male Snow Bengals, who were adopted by their family two years ago from a rescue centre. Since then both cats have been unwell in some degree, but usually having pretty awful Diarrhoea. After lots of difficulties in finding an answer to their ills, Winston and Wellington came to see our vet Alistair, and were diagnosed with in infectious disease called Tritrichomonas Feotus, which is similar to Giardia in people.

Winston and Wellington came to stay with us for 2 weeks to undergo intensive treatment for their illnesses, and made sure we all knew they were here by ‘singing’ loudly to anyone that would listen! Both of the cats have since gone home to their owners, feeling much better, and our isolation ward just isn’t the same without them.
