The aim of Movember is to tackle prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention in males. In order to raise money, moustaches are grown throughout the month of November to raise awareness of such a worthy cause. We might be biased but we think that the moustaches look fantastic and should be a permament fixture!
Munlochy Animal Aid are a local animal rescue centre located on the Black Isle. Each year around Christmas time we launch a Christmas Appeal to collect pet food, bedding, toys and treats as well as money donated to give to Munlochy. They rely purely on donations and are a massive asset to animals in our area. To date we have donated over 900kgs of pet food and £2,000.00.
In 2018 we undertook a fundrasier to purchase pet oxygen mask kits to donate to Scottish Fire & Rescue Service. It was a much bigger success than we could ever have imagined and we managed to make the single biggest one off donation to Smokey Paws by purchasing 45 kits. Over a period of two days, we delivered these kits and training to the various fire stations that we chose to receive the equipment.
In 2019 we decided to focus on our human clients, local community and staff members and started a fundraiser to purchase three publicly accessible defibrillators. Each defibrillator will be housed outside each branch of our practice and can be accessed at any time of day or night. This is an ongoing fundrasier however in the space of eight weeks we are already two thirds of our way to reaching our target! Fundraising events thus far have included a bake sale, twelve hour spinathon, staff ceilidh, raffle and 24hr sponsored kennel stay.
Early in 2019 some of our team took part in the world's biggest inflatable assault course. A wet but great day was had by all but most importantly we raised a fantastic amount of money to donate towards veterans of war who use dogs to support their day to day lives and recovery.
We continually fundraise for SNAP throughout the year by becoming a recycling drop off point for empty pet food pouches on behalf of Terracycle. Terracycle make a contribution to the charity based upon the weight of pet food pouches we send to them so not only are we saving the planet but we are also helping out a very worthy local charity.
MFR Cash4Kids is a local charity in Inverness that raises funds throughout the year to help disadvantaged children throughout the North of Scotland. Every year we don our Christmas jumpers for a day in the workplace, donate toys to the cause from staff instead of secret santa presents for one another. We also take part in fundraisers throughout the year including the MFR Superhero day.
